Our OpenSky IoT Zhaga smart street lighting controller (SLC) uses open standard telecom network. Use of cellular network allows the OpenSky IoT controller to connect directly to a local cell tower (2G/ 3G/ 4G/ NB-IoT). This eliminates the need for dedicated Gateways.
The standardized Zhaga book 18 interface of OpenSky outdoor lamp controller (OLC) ensures a quick, tool-free installation and universal luminaire compatibility.
OpenSky IoT Zhaga is a perfect smart city street lighting solution that is quick and easy to deploy throughout your city.
Ability to dim street lights automatically through pre-defined schedule maximizes energy savings and cuts CO2 emissions
Proactive alerts/ notifications for fault, alarm or an outage optimizes maintenance and reduces cost by up to 50%
Monitor, manage and control each individual light point (or a group of street lights) remotely from a single location
During the off-peak hours, street lights dim to a predefined low level. Thereby reducing light pollution and benefitting nocturnal life
Public infrastructure demand high reliability and security. Therefore, OpenSky wireless OLC uses standardized 3GPP cellular network to connect an individual street light to our light management platform.
OpenSky OLC automatically selects the best available local connectivity: EGPRS, Edge, LTE Cat M1 or NB-IoT.
Cellular networks comply to highest global security standards. It is used by billions of devices today. They offer long range, deep coverage, high availability and managed Low Power Wide Area network (LPWAN).
Unlike proprietary network providers (e.g. LoRA, Sigfox, Zigbee, Wi-Sun and UNB), OpenSky SLC connects directly with our light management platform via local cellphone tower.
There is no need for local Gateways. This in turn significantly reduces cost and hassle of maintaining a local network infrastructure, since local operators manage and maintain the network.

In-built GPS within OpenSky OLC supports automatic registration. This helps a local electrician to install SLC without an expert knowledge/ training.
Different parts of a city have different road lighting requirements. Individual light management through OpenSky OLC offers incredible flexibility.
Each luminaire can be individually switched and dimmed using custom light scenes. Vice versa, luminaires send meaningful alerts for smart and efficient maintenance.

Cities often have different types of luminaire and driver. Power grid infrastructure may also vary across the city. OpenSky OLC offers you excellent flexibility with selecting suitable light profiles to meet local requirements:
OpenSky OLC allows connection of motion sensors to deliver dynamic light-on-demand, thereby enhancing safety perception of road users.
